We're standing in the gap for those struggling in our community. We are not slowed by bureaucracy, waiting for approvals, or contracting to bring in people or goods from a distance to help. We are already in the community with food and hands to provide immediate assistance. We can do this because we have caring, capable staff and volunteers, food, and local connections to help. We stand in the gap every day for our neighbors as they wait for government food assistance, unemployment, health insurance or disability checks, or a court date to battle an injustice. But we can only be there to help get families back on their feet because of community members such as you. Caring Individuals, businesses, and houses of worship provide volunteers and donate funds so that we can be there for neighbors.
We have seen an unprecedented influx of new guests this year, and it is showing no signs of slowing down as food costs, gasoline, childcare (if you can find it), and housing costs have increased. The demand for food is so high, that for the first time, Feeding Hands has had to limit our service area to guests who live in Somerset County and a handful of surrounding towns! Now, more than ever, our guests need you to be their Feeding Hands.
Feeding Hands provides food and hope in a transformative environment that reduces isolation and depression as we alleviate hunger. We send out groceries with a healthy dose of empathy and connection, getting to know our guests who come to us for help. Many of our guests consider Feeding Hands to be their family. We truly care for them providing an average of more than $300 of food on each family visit.
